1986 560SL R107. 89,500 miles. Clean South Carolina title. I am selling because; On to the next project! I am an enthusiast and maintain these cars to the greatest extent that I can. I have owned many older German cars, and this one was without a doubt the fan favorite based on reactions from friends, family and strangers on the street.No accidents, original color (not original paint), includes the following original accessories: toolkit, first aid kit, owners’ manual, floor mats, spare wheel, convertible top tools, 2 keys, radio (serviced by Becker recently), hardtop in excellent condition, hardtop storage rack, storage cover for hardtop, car cover, 5 volumes of factory maintenance manuals, and documented service history since 2015 showing over ,500 in maintenance. Also included are some old spare parts which were replaced by me, and some new weatherstrip seals which were never installed. 99.8% rust free car- small spot explained below. Black soft top is in good condition and works flawlessly. Mechanically this car is in excellent condition and totally ready to reliably drive anywhere in a moment’s notice.I have performed the following work under my ownership:Preventatively replaced:-All belts-Power steering pump (was leaking)-Coolant, thermostat, fan clutch-Rear brake pads, rotors, parking brake, brake fluid-A/C recharge – Heat, A/C, auto climate control fully functional-Oil change-5 new tires (including spare) and alignment-All headlights, and headlight alignment for better night visibility-Turn signal indicator stalk-Hood underside insulating pad-All OEM parts used-Other minor mechanical fixes-There is nothing that this car needs mechanically.Cosmetic enhancements:-THOROUGH cleaning and paint correction – includes engine bay, partial removal and reinstallation of interior, cleaning of wheel wells, polishing of trim, and underneath car-Replacement of headlight surrounds (“headlight doors”)-Replacement of turn signal indicator lenses-Reupholstering of seats in top quality leather – I have the original seat covers in a box. Seat cushions rejuvenated-Total refurbishment of all 5 wheels – wheel paint was in poor condition-Replacement of some interior burl wood trim – the new trim is not OEM as this is no longer available, and the fitment is not perfect. I have the original trim but it is in poor condition. Can be refurbished.Flaws with car:-Mild oil leak. Every single one of these V8 M117 engines leak no matter what. I keep a quart of oil in the trunk but have never needed to add any.-Dash clock does not work. Common. I am familiar with a company who can repair.-Radio antenna does not extend. I have not diagnosed but this is a very common issue. Almost certainly antenna motor unit needs replacing – not an expensive job.-Mild cracking on dashboard-Paint: very good condition overall, with mild rock chips and small spots of cracking due to age. I have spent a lot of time hydrating and waxing the paint, it should be very well preserved for years. I do not know when the car was repainted but it was not recent. -Body: 4-5 small dents which could easily be pulled out via paintless dent repair. Trunk lid has moderate denting from previous owners slamming trunk on objects which didn’t fit. I think many SL cars have this “feature” and it is part of the car’s character. Soft top stowage compartment cover has moderate scuffing from botched handling of hardtop in years past.-Small rust spot- on the edge of the soft top compartment. Very accessible for repair. This would be an extremely easy job for a body shop, and I would be performing this work if I intended to keep the car.
